It takes courage, strength and conviction to go against the grain. But if someone hadn't  done it, we wouldn't have wheat bread, chocolate chip ice cream or radios in our cars.  It is often difficult to get other people to follow your train of thought.  Stop trying. It's your train. You are the engineer and the conductor.  We usually want and need help, support and comfort when we are doing something new. If we do not get it, so what! Does it mean we should stop what we are doing. Absolutely not! The path to success is paved with road signs, warning symbols and obstructions. But when you start a new trail equipped with courage, strength and conviction, the only thing that can stop you is you.

Life is a series of mysteries we must each unravel at our own pace. Our task is not to solve the mysteries but to use them along our way. No one can tell us what is good for us just because it worked for them. If we allow someone to give us our answers we create conflict deep within.  

Sometimes it gets confusing trying to figure out what to do. If the confusion is on the inside, the answer is there, too! No human being has all the answers, if they did they would not be here. One of the greatest mysteries we must unravel is our purpose, because that makes us clear.  Let us take more time to listen to our hearts, filtering through the offerings that come in. 

 Let us not be so willing to say "I know" when we have no idea where to begin.  Let us know deep down that God loves us and use that knowledge along the way.  Let us approach the great mystery of the meaning of life with a little bit less to say.

When I was in college the crew of friends I hung around we all had a competition of who could ge the highest GPA each semester. Our lowest GPA out of the 8 of us was maybe a 3.6....Didnt make sense then, it does NOW....

When was the last time you watched a toddler learning to walk? They take a few steps and fall. Then get up and try again. Sometimes they bump their heads,bust their lips or pull things down onto their heads. No matter. They keep falling and getting up,until one day they make it clear across the room. How did we lose that fierce tenacity to make it no matter what? 

Most of us consider ourselves much more capable than a toothless toddler, yet they seem to have something we don't. The toddler seems to know that it's okay to fall. They are always willing to roll over, get up and try it again.A toddler who stumbles doesn't always fall.  Stumbling actually moves them ahead faster.  A toddler will grab onto anyone or anything until they get their balance.  When they do, they let go and move on. They don't seem to care how awkward they look, whether or not people laugh at them or how many times they fall. They do it over and over until they get it right. 

Isn't it funny that those of us who know how to walk are always afraid to fall?

Read of the week....

So a friend of mine introduced me to this book a couple of months ago.  She said that it was something that would change my outlook on life, and she was right.  Sad to say but I've had it for a while and was compelled to pick it.  Let me just say that I haven't put it down since.  

It's a book of teachings through the personal experiences of the author.  The stories seems to speak directly to you, and most if not all are relevant to me right now.  In a constant effort to better myself,  there is much note taking and meditation when reading.  Its really that good.

 

Eat, Pray, Love is a great read folks!

If you really want to know where I get my fire to succeed from.....Well Your looking at him! My brother Isiah (Zay) has motivated me to do my best in everything I do, and pushed me to GO HARD! WHY??? This lil big fella (LOL) has held an internship at prestigious law firms since the 5th grade. He personally know Gen. Colin Powell,  he's a debate champ, SGA president, he dreams bigger than most people I know, he's never been in any legal trouble, & he gives 100% at everything he does! 

When I wanted to start BLACK Collection he said "dont do it if your not gonna give it your all"... 

This picture says so many words for me folks! We recently lost our dad during the same time of his senior year highlights but we stuck in there, and this pic shows just that! 

He has a few options on the table for college, but it's looking like he's going to either FAMU or Xaxier in New Orleans. Either one of those spots are great vacay spots tho! LOL!

When we face disappointments,challenges, and obstacles, the first thing we ask is, "Why me?" We don't always realize that things happen to us according to our dominant thoughts, words and deeds. Even when we work really hard to keep ourselves in a positive frame of mind, things happen.

When events occur that we don't expect, they increase our faith, strengthen our ability to endure and bring forth our hidden talents, abilities and strengths. Why me? As Les Brown would say "Why not you?" Would you recommend someone else?" Why you? Because you can handle it. because you really do know what to do.

Because you need a little nudge every now and then to keep you on or put you back on track. So the next time something happens to you,remember, things don't just happen. They happen the way they should, at just the right time, to the right people. Our job is to know we are equipped to handle it.
